Teambuilding Tip: Conversation Starters

“What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while.” (Gretchen Rubin)

If you want to do anything really well – you have to do it regularly. Teambuilding is the same. It has to be constant – not just saved for special occasions or when there’s a problem. That doesn’t mean it needs to be complicated! Here are some of my favorite conversation starters to use during warm-up, snack break, stretching, cool-down, waiting around at meets, whenever!

  • What is your favorite holiday? Why?
  • What is something that you think about or do that makes you happy even when you are feeling down?
  • If you could be in a movie which one would you be in what character would you play
  • What is something you can’t live without?
  • What would be your perfect day?
  • What is something you are thankful for today?
  • What is something that has made you feel proud this week?
  • Who is someone that makes you laugh?

  • Where do you go when you need some quiet or alone time to think?
  • What do you do in the morning before you leave for school?
  • What is the nicest thing that someone has done for you?
  • If you could have lunch with someone famous who would it be?
  • What is your favorite outfit?
  • What job would you like to try for a day?
  • Would you rather live on a space station or in a submarine?
  • If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would you choose?
  • Would you rather eat breakfast for dinner or dinner for breakfast?
  • What is your favorite season?
  • What is your favorite color?
  • If you had a superpower what would it be?
  • What is something that you do really well?
  • Who would you switch places with for a day?
