About

Kat Adams, MPH, CHES is a coach, facilitator, planner and cat-lover currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. After an 14 year club gymnastics career, she went to the University of Virginia for a B.S.Ed in Kinesiology while competing on the Virginia Club Gymnastics team and founding what would later become Virginia Acrobatics. During college she began coaching, and haven’t stopped since. she have now been coaching gymnastics for more than 9 years, ranging from absolute beginners to State, Regional, and National champions.

Kat received a Master in Public Health, concentrating in Health Education at Emory University, and became a Certified Health Education Specialist®  in 2017. During that time Kat began to connect public health education with the realities of coaching youth sports. Her relationship with athletes and fellow coaches improved, as did her confidence as a coach as she kept practices fun, made athletes feel values, saw the connection between happiness, health, and performance. She also saw and experienced first-hand the barriers that exist to getting quality coaching education.

In 2018 Kat founded The All Around Coach. The company was started to combine expertise from the fields of health communication, adult education, and youth development and to lead the way in shifting gymnastics to have a truly athlete-centered culture. Just as athletes deserve the best possible coaches, coaches deserve the best possible training and education.

Kat is an active participant in Olympic Movement, participating in conferences and presenting on youth development in sport settings. Most recently, she attended the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Assembly and the 2018 USOC American Development Model Symposium.

In her free time, she enjoys taking dance classes, working out with her boyfriend, reading fantasy novels, and hanging out with her cat.
